Voters in the state have elected four Indian Americans to the U.S. House and Senate, more than all other states combined. That would require convincing other Indian American professionals to consider a career change to get involved in politics. Many Indian American candidates come from a similar background. Early in the 2020 presidential campaign, Indian American donors, many of them eager to support Kamala Harris' bid, gave more than $3 million to primary hopefuls. The Indian American Impact Fund in Washington, D.C., is an example.
