Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 the Modi regime has raked up the issue of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) anew. Adivasis, India’s indigenous populations, already targeted and marginalised as a result of non-democratic governance, facing mass displacement are in strong opposition to the UCC. The concept of a Uniform Civil Code is included in Part IV of the Indian Constitution comprising Directive Principles of State Policy.
