In 1904, for the first time, a Newcastle audience witnessed the excitement and drama of a live Houdini performance. A trawl through the ChronicleLive archives reveals the icon visited Newcastle at least five times. On the back of that success, Houdini returned to Newcastle for a week of appearances at the Pavilion Theatre, Westgate Road, in November. 1920: Two years after the end of the war, Houdini was back in town, headlining at the Hippodrome theatre on Northumberland Road.
