How the New York Times was engulfed by a trans culture war

The letter refers to the Arkansas attorney general, who last year cited three different New York Times articles in defence of an act that would make it illegal for medical providers to give puberty blockers to children. Alice Enders at Enders Analysis says: “What they’re saying is the New York Times must take a position on the issue of children and their right to transition and defend it hook line and sinker, and I’m not sure that’s appropriate. Moore, who left the newspaper in the wake of the row, draws parallels between the backlash at the Guardian and the one at the New York Times. They’ve backed themselves into a corner, but bit by bit this ideology is crumbling and it will fall.”More fundamentally, however, the trans debate is simply the latest front in a culture war that the New York Times is proving increasingly ill-equipped to fight.
