It’s also when after-school programs start up again – which means the shift in the daily routine extends beyond school itself. Parents also tend to value academic achievement over process, which can exacerbate the pressure kids feel to deliver good grades. Lapointe urges parents not to get frustrated – not with themselves, but especially not with their kids. Have your kids feeling the routine of that schedule, and try not to internalize all of this stress from the world outside,” she says.
