Huawei’s pain isn’t necessarily Xiaomi’s gain. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi won’t be targeted by the Trump administration in the way that Huawei has been, but nor is it likely to benefit much from its rival’s problems. First-quarter results published Monday show that it still hasn’t come up with a credible way to make decent money in what will remain a hyper-competitive industry.
