That First Minister Humza Yousaf has had a tough time since entering Bute House has become a cliché. Worse still, as Yousaf looks ahead of him there are two tricky hazards in the road. The Rutherglen contest is a ‘must-win’ for Humza Yousaf’s leadership and the chances that he can manage it are becoming more unlikely. Yousaf can command a majority at Holyrood thanks to support from the Scottish Greens. It’s more as if Humza Yousaf’s government is stuck on a roundabout, going nowhere, travelling in circles, with the direction of his statis dictated by a giant green mound he can’t see past.
