I Am Affected campaign comes to Waterloo region

Luane Roberts is one of thousands of Indigenous people affected by the legacy of Canada's residential school system. She didn't attend a school herself, but her mother did, and that has had an impact on both their lives. It's why she wanted to bring the I Am Affected campaign to Waterloo region — a poster campaign that started in Hamilton and has spread across southwestern Ontario. (Teghan Beaudett/CBC)Roberts, who is an Indigenous justice coordinator at Waterloo Region Community Legal Services, says the campaign is a way to start what can be a difficult conversation. Roberts said the poster campaign will lead to a second campaign — I Am Committed — which will ask people to pledge their commitment to addressing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's calls to action.
