In April, as it became clear that our travel plans were dashed due to Covid-19, I looked for weekend projects around the house. I ended up getting a bit part in one of the year’s biggest mysteries. I had decided that what we needed during the pandemic were cheerful cut flowers to decorate the house, so I got busy in the garden. With a yard full of California native plants, the sparse blossoms were better for bees than bouquets.
