Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has disclosed that in 1996, he had plans to contest against John Agyekum Kufuor. However, he was begged to rescind his decision to contest against John Agyekum Kufuor and other leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates. Alan Kyerematen was speaking on Ezra Radio when he made this known. “I was going to contest against Kufuor and others, but when they realised that Alan Kyerematen could win the contest, they sent people to me to rescind my decision to contest. Appiah Menka wrote in his book that the only person who could have beaten Kufuor was Alan Kyerematen.
