It breaks my heart to see young English footballers on the receiving end of this vile abuse. Clearly, social media companies must do more to drain this poison from their platforms. But ultimately it falls to all of us to eliminate this scourge once and for all – Government, businesses, the FA, UEFA, social media firms, communities, campaigning organisations, clubs, players and, crucially, the fans. Of course, it’s been immensely disappointing to see some so-called England fans booing their own team for taking the knee. Let’s make a statement that there’s no room for racism anywhere – not in the stands, not on social media, not on the football pitch and not on our streets.
