The hotel engineer, Stephen Schuck, was sent to check a fire exit door that Campos found bolted shut, he told DeGeneres. 'I would have got hit'When Schuck arrived in the 32nd floor hallway, Campos had already been shot. But he still managed to lean out from a door entrance and yell at Schuck to take cover, Schuck told DeGeneres. Both are on paid leave from their jobs, according to officials at MGM Resorts International, which owns the hotel. He told Campos in the interview that the guard saved his life, and DeGeneres credited Campos with also warning a woman who started to come out of her room to get back inside.
