“I'm on record to have declared that, for me, my personal prayer each morning is that, by the time I am leaving office, I want to see lending rates below 10%. On our part at the Bank of Ghana, that is what we do,” he said. The Governor also highlighted that this target is part of a broader effort to stimulate economic growth and support businesses across the country. “Together we have to strive to maintain this new environment we have created in the past one year: a low-interest, stable exchange rate environment,” he added. Dr Asiama officially assumed office as Governor of the Bank of Ghana on February 3, 2025, following his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama.
