Nearly all my life, Lee had been threatening to kill me, too, as well as my brother and my mum. He talked endlessly about how he was going to kill me and my brother, but especially Mum. Mum and I were living in a small house by then, but Lee didn’t give up his campaign of intimidation. It was absolutely chilling that Lee had stabbed his girlfriend in the neck, just the way he’d threatened to kill Mum. Though we never discussed what we were going through at the time, Mum, James and I often talk about the past now.
