The biggest compliment you pay Manchester United is that they actually did that yesterday. Liverpool were always going to be on top, so there was little surprise to see United adopt a defensive approach to counter it. But even on the rare occasions United penetrated the Liverpool backline, they lacked the composure and clinical finishing required to make the home side pay. It wasn't a memorable match, but it was a memorable performance for the way they dug deep and almost nicked the match themselves. It is a credit to United that Liverpool fans were the ones leaving Anfield annoyed.
