‌Thorne in South Yorkshire has all the hallmarks of being one of those areas. "I have travelled throughout the UK, but Thorne is one of the only towns left that feels English. Many of the older people in Thorne said they preferred it when they were younger and the town was buzzing. And this is not even to mention Toll Bar Leisure Park and Thorne Community Wood, a breathtaking nature reserve. Thorne feels like a step back into the old English way - and not in many of the rundown parts of the country Labour are desperately trying to regenerate.
