INTERPOL deletes Red Notice against Ken Ofori-Atta over political concerns

General News of Saturday, 14 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe International Criminal Police Organization has permanently removed a Red Notice issued against Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, following a review by its oversight body. Lawyers for Ofori-Atta disclosed on Friday, February 13, 2026 in a statement that the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) had communicated its decision to expunge the alert from the organisation’s database. The decision was reportedly taken during the CCF’s 135th session held on February 4, 2026, after a review of materials submitted by Ghana’s INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB). Commission determined that the data registered by the NCB of Ghana were not compliant with INTERPOL’s rules and should therefore be deleted. The former minister has been under scrutiny over several high-profile transactions during a period in which Ghana’s public debt rose sharply.
