IWD 2026: Foundation calls for empowerment and equal opportunities

International Women’s Day, observed annually on March, 8 recognises the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while also advocating for gender equality and the protection of women’s rights. This year’s global focus emphasizes advancing women’s rights and strengthening justice systems so that women and girls can fully enjoy their rights and opportunities in society. In a statement issued by the Foundation, it reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the welfare of women, girls, and families through education, community support, and advocacy for gender equality. Despite progress, many women and girls still face challenges such as limited access to education, economic inequality, and gender-based discrimination. The Divine Mother and Child Foundation also encourages individuals and organisations to celebrate International Women’s Day by recognising the contributions of women and supporting initiatives that promote gender equality.
