The California story, in 2017, can be summed up in one word: sitzkrieg. When they weren’t taking rhetorical potshots at Donald Trump (calling the man a racist), California lawmakers were busy taking his administration to court—that is, when they weren’t calling for a post-impeachment Trump to take his act back to New York. Trump weighed in on the verdict in the trial of the illegal alien accused of killing San Franciscan Kate Steinle. But 2018 is a different year – and, it would seem, a different level of hostilities about to commence. In mid-January, word got out that federal immigration agents are planning to detain and deport some 1,500 illegal immigration currently residing in California – retaliation, some would say, for California defying the feds and granting itself sanctuary state status.
