LAGOS State government has accepted the recommendation that an audit exercise by an independent consortium of professionals should scrutinise all high-rise buildings in the state. The White Paper was released barely three and a half months after the 21-storey building collapsed on Gerrard Road in Ikoyi and over one month that the probe panel submitted its report. “This included all those that were involved in the 2019 approval of the collapsed building. Meanwhile, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has revealed that the collapsed 21-storey high-rise building had poor workmanship. “At present, of the 45 identified bodies, 42 have been released to family members while the remaining three have not been collected by family members,” he said.
