Illinois governor toasts diversity — with chocolate milk

The governor of one of the most diverse states in the country showed his commitment to cultivating that diversity by drinking a glass of chocolate milk. Bruce Rauner (R) sipped a mouthful of the syrupy drink Wednesday as part of a peculiar demonstration about workplace diversity at a Black History Month event in Chicago. “Diversity!”The demonstration was the idea of Tyronne Stoudemire, Hyatt Hotels’ vice president of global diversity, who is black. “I want you to stir it up, Governor, stir it up.”Rauner used a spoon to blend the syrup and the milk together. Stoudemire told the Chicago Tribune’s Kim Janssen that he’d been using the chocolate milk analogy for 16 years to convey the lack of diversity among those who lead Fortune 500 companies.
