Ours is a country that was founded upon the principles of secularism and pluralism, where people of all ethnicity, race, and creed come together and live in harmony, and Christmas is one of the many religious holidays which serve to remind us of that fact. Despite the threat of communal violence looming ever large in our society, time and again, the people have proven that what unites our nation is our shared identity as Bengalis. In the spirit of humanity and the spirit of Christmas, let us all hope that persecuted and displaced people all over the world, not limited to the Rohingya, will eventually be able to return to their home with a sense of security and safety.
