India court convicts 2 members of Ansarullah Bangla Team, sentences 7 years imprisonment


Photo: BigstockThe accused entered India in 2016 with an intention to commit terrorist actsThe National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in Kolkata convicted two Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) terrorists and sentenced them to seven years of rigorous imprisonment on Tuesday. The two convicts have been identified as Sahadat Hussain and Umar Farooque who were also fined Rs26,000 and Rs33,000 respectively. Both the accused - members of banned terrorist outfit in Bangladesh pleaded guilty in court, reports Zeenews. The case was initially registered by Kolkata Police's Special Task Force (STF) and they had arrested five members of ABT in Kolkata. The investigation also revealed that the accused tried to procure chemicals from a shop in Patna and tried to build hide-outs in Ranchi.
