Under Kohli, India have been ambitious and they have stuck to their guns by playing only five specialist batsmen. But India's remarkable run at home was a fruit of Kohli's mind-numbing consistency besides Ashwin's guile with the bat. After an ordinary patch following his maiden double hundred in the West Indies, Kohli came back strongly to score another one against the Black Caps at home. By the time England came visiting, Kohli was hungry for more and he satiated it with 655 runs in five Tests. In Sri Lanka, Kohli failed twice on the opening days of the Galle and Colombo Tests but India dug deep thanks to Shikhar Dhawan, Pujara and Rahane.
