KUALA LUMPUR: A 31-year-old Indonesian walked out a free man after the High Court acquitted and discharged him of trafficking almost 700 gramme of methamphetamine last year. Dedy Saputra, clad in a white shirt, could not hold back his tears when Judge Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman meted out the sentence after the defence had successfully raised reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case. In his judgement, Ab Karim said that after scrutinising submissions by witnesses and arguments of the prosecution, Dedy could not be linked to the drugs as it was found in a master bedroom occupied by another person known as ‘Zubir’. The textile businessman was charged of trafficking 673.4 gramme methamphetamine at a house level 9-1, 69 Casa Residency Condominium near Dang Wangi at about 4.45pm on April 3, 2016. Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Nordin Ismail prosecuted while Dedy was represented by Datuk N. Sivananthan.
