Inquiry after police car crashes into parked vehicles

A police car crashed into three parked cars while being driven during the treacherous conditions that caused chaos on Dunedin roads earlier this week. A police spokeswoman confirmed a police car was involved in a "low-speed non-injury collision" with three unoccupied vehicles on Warrender St about 9pm on Monday. "All cars have access to chains, are fully equipped with safety equipment and our people receive regular driver training," the spokeswoman said. Stuart St was one of many roads where conditions made life difficult for drivers on Monday evening. On Monday, staffing levels were maintained despite the blizzard-like conditions, though some calls had to be prioritised over others owing to the weather.
