A civil society organisation, Pro-Nigeria Group, has said the Nigerian economy is being run on a short-term basis and if nothing is done fast, things may get worse. The Convener of the group, Lai Omotola, in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, stated that the country’s elites lack the power of creativity as they are reactive and not proactive. Omotola said, “When you look at the economy, you would find out that unemployment, inflation and exchange rates are very high. Nigerian leaders lack the power of creativity, the ability to think about the problem and productivity. How do you explain the Central Bank of Nigeria’s hundreds of billions across all sectors’ intervention funds, yet there is no growth?
