The Intercity Through Train services may be terminated permanently in a year, according to the media source. Intercity Through Train service has been suspended since January 2020, after the outbreak of the Covid-19 and lasted for more than two years. The Transport and Housing Bureau revealed that the through train services would be adjusted or reduced back then. Before the suspension of the service in January 2020, the Guangzhou-Kowloon through train, the Shanghai-Kowloon through train and the Beijing-Kowloon through train share the same track with the East Rail train in the Hong Kong section. The termination of Intercity Through Train services may MTR to increase its East Rail Line service frequencies, said a lawmaker.
