International Space Station gets a big hand as astronauts carry out repair job

Space station operations were largely unaffected by the three-day shutdown. NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hei, top, and Scott Tingle work outside the International Space Station. It was the first spacewalk for Mr Tingle, who arrived last month, and the third for Mr Vande Hei. Mr Vande Hei will go back out on Monday with another astronaut to finish the job. The space station is home to three Americans, two Russians and one Japanese astronaut.
