Iran’s highest profile state-sponsored hackers have claimed another attack on a high-profile Israeli target. This didn’t require a sophisticated hack of any military systems, just a socially engineered breach of an iPhone or Android phone, reportedly securing thousands of sensitive documents. The cyber war between Israel and Iran has never stopped, and will remain a constant regardless of what comes out of the current conflict. While most of this remains hidden from sight, some attacks are designed more for publicity than real military gain. It is almost certain the approach would have been a targeted spear phishing attack, with no claims that any Apple or Google systems were breached.
