ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today spoke on the telephone with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Peshmerga. The Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of more than 1900 precious lives and prayed for the deceased and the speedy recovery of the injured. He expressed his strong support for Pakistan’s peace initiative and expressed hope that collective efforts would lead to an effective way to de-escalate tensions. The Iranian President appreciated the Prime Minister’s sincere diplomatic efforts and expressed his position on Israeli actions against Iran. The Prime Minister thanked the Iranian President and assured that Pakistan would continue its constructive role for promoting peace and stability in the region.
