Irfan will take on Nepali kick-boxing champion Sandeep Gurung in the strawweight division. The ONE Warrior Series show will be hosted by former world champion Rich Franklin, who is talent hunting in Asia and Australia. The 23-year-old fighter trains and lives at the Shaheen Academy that Bashir founded where aspiring athletes and the core team of the academy trains as well. Bashir said that Irfan is one of his first and best students. “I am thankful to ONE Warrior Series, especially to Rich Franklin and Bashir Ahmed, for this opportunity and InshaAllah, I will not disappoint my country,” said Irfan in a media statement.
