Irish Water under fire again over Kilcummin water

Last week Irish Water informed local councillors at a briefing that, while the Kilcummin Scheme will go ahead, it will not be as early as previously indicated, and three main areas are now to be omitted. In a statement to The Kerryman, Irish Water confirmed the scheme has been changed. Kerry County Council management are now to write to Kerry's four TDs - including Education Minister Norma Foley - and Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien, under whose remit Irish Water falls, to seek an urgent meeting following the decision by Irish Water to once again let down the people of Kerry and Kilcummin. Irish Water are continuing work on the €9m scheme, which they say will go to tender later this year. Irish Water refused to comment on land acquisition as discussions are ongoing.
