The keyword Al-Ani keeps coming back to during our chat is “collaborativeness” — how well a vehicle’s advanced driver aids work with the driver, and how easy they are to override. Price isn’t always a guarantee of good ADAS, says Al-Ani. Sometimes it takes several hundred yards before the car’s speed alert system corrects itself. The assessment might not cover everything [but] it’s definitely a good start to see what is likely a good performer and what might not be a very good performer.
