The total number of crimes reported to police in Winnipeg rose from 2015 to 2017, reflecting recent rises elsewhere in Canada. The rise in reported crimes in a number of different statistical categories, however, lends credence to the conclusion crime really has risen in Winnipeg over the past three years. Short-term spike, long-term dropThe short-term spike in crime statistics, however, comes at the end of a long period where reports of crime in Winnipeg have been declining.
