Israeli Defense Forces Spokesperson Ella Waweya slammed the Egyptian series “Ashab al-Ard” (Owners of the Land), which dramatizes Israel’s recent war on the Gaza Strip. The show has garnered widespread acclaim across the Arab world while drawing sharp condemnation from Israeli officials. In a video posted to her Facebook account on Wednesday, Waweya stated: “Owners of the land… Art is a message, but only when it is honest. Otherwise, it is nothing more than brainwashing and a falsification of facts.”She further accused the production of incitement, stressing that provocation comes not only from slogans but can also be embedded in “a series or a detailed scene.”The Israeli spokesperson alleged that the series is a “blatant, barefaced rewriting of history and a deliberate distortion of the facts,” adding that the narrative “flips the script, turning the killer into a victim and the victim into the accused.”Pointing to the Israeli flag on her uniform, she stated: “To be clear, the true owners of the land are those who defended their homes, their children, and their very existence.”Series director Peter Mimi fired back at the Israeli spokesperson’s claims, expressing bewilderment at the accusation of “falsifying facts.”He commented: “What falsification?
