Lucozade Sport, the nation’s favourite sports drink, celebrated the return of amateur team sport last night by live streaming the first grassroots football match since lockdown. Featuring local team Rising Ballers, the game kicked off at 00.01am this morning. The match, played at Powerleague Newham in east London, was the first amateur sporting fixture since all team sports were suspended on Thursday 5th November 2020. The first match comes as new research from Lucozade Sport reveals that nearly one in four (23 per cent) have missed being part of a team whilst team sport was on hold during Covid-19. We’ve missed team sports and amateur football as much as everyone and we’re desperate to get back on the pitch.
