Dogs, in particular, face a heightened risk of chocolate poisoning during the Christmas season. The study authors, from the University of Liverpool, hypothesized that these illnesses were clustered around holidays known to feature chocolate: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter and Halloween.
