Her boss didn't call it "economic history", she told me, but the company's strategy meetings turned on insights from the past. In Spain as elsewhere, standalone economic history departments have vanished or merged with more general programmes. At EHU, "Public Policy and Economic History" is still part of our department's name, and we maintain a real presence -- courses, faculty, and research.
