Her father has been “a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive,” Ms. Trump said. “I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media, that’s been perpetuated,” Ms. Trump said, leading to laughter from some of the people attending the conference. Ms. Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, are considered among the president’s closest advisers. “The German audience is not that familiar with the concept of a first daughter,” Ms. Meckel said.
