JOHOR BARU: A new RM14.5mil fire and rescue station is being constructed near the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) to support rapid urban development in the Johor Baru city centre. Johor Fire and Rescue Department director Siti Rohani Nadir said the Johor Baru Central station, spanning 4,126.3 sq m, will be located along Jalan Ismail Sultan. She said the facility is a Category C station, making it larger than the Iskandar Puteri fire station and comparable to the Bandar Baru Kulai station. “The Johor Baru Central station is part of broader efforts to enhance emergency response capabilities in line with major developments in the city, including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and RTS Link. Siti Rohani said two other fire stations in Kluang and Larkin are also being upgraded by next year, while plans are ongoing for a new fire station in Simpang Renggam.
