GettyBRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Patrick Kane, Jack Hughes and the rest of Team USA are headed home without a medal after a 4-3 quarterfinal loss to Russia on Thursday at the 2019 IIHF World Championship. “I thought we put ourselves in a tough spot having to play Russia in the quarterfinal game,” said coach Jeff Blashill. It's hard to dig yourself (out of) a 2-0 hole to that kind of team.”Jack Hughes was named player of the game for Team USA. “He was a superstar tonight,” said Blashill of the youngest-ever player to suit up for Team USA at Worlds, who’s widely expected to be selected first overall at the upcoming NHL draft in June. All he did was dig in and show everybody, including myself, what a high-level player he is.”Top prospect Jack Hughes sets up Noah Hanifin for Team USA.
