Last week, Wednesday, July 7, former South African President, Jacob Zuma, finally handed himself over to the police. It reminds me of the novel of the same title by the South African Nobel laureate, J. M. Coetzee. In September 2010, I met President Zuma in Brussels where I served as an international civil servant. On December 9, 2015, President Zuma fired his finance minister, Nhlanhla Nene. In March 2021, the Commission applied to the Constitutional Court to sentence Jacob Zuma for two years in prison for contempt of court.
