The EC registrar, with the commission's approval, pursued both civil and criminal charges, seeking repayment of the misused funds and the prosecution of party executives. Investigations revealed that Peerawit fled to Laos before being apprehended on Aug 15, with cooperation between the EC and the Royal Thai Police.
