CHICAGO—As he walked off the mound at Wrigley Field for possibly the last time in a Cubs uniform, Jake Arrieta tipped his cap to the roaring fans. Arrieta will be a free agent after the season and economics could determine whether the veteran right-hander will be pitching for another team in 2018. If it was his last outing with the Cubs, he certainly made it memorable. With his team facing elimination, Arrieta went 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits with five walks and nine strikeouts. “It’s not an ideal situation, but I’ve been in this situation several times before and I enjoy it,” Arrieta said.
