A Jalandhar court Thursday acquitted dismissed deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagdish Bhola and four others in a case of smuggling 1 kg heroin. Bhola continues to be in judicial custody as he is one of the key accused in a multi-crore synthetic drug case in which he was arrested in 2013. Bhola’s advocate Darshan Singh Dyal pleaded in court that the prosecution had no other evidence against his client except the extra-judicial disclosure of Tarsem Singh. Tarsem Singh and Dalbir Singh were convicted and sentenced to 12 years of rigorous imprisonment. Businessman Jagjit Singh Chahal and SAD leader Maninder Singh aka Bittu Aulakh were also arrested along with him.
