Jamaat ameer pays tribute to martyred army members


Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, Dr Shafiqur Rahman, on Wednesday paid deep tribute to the Army officers who were killed in the 2009 BDR carnage by visiting their graves at Banani Military Graveyard. Member of the party’s central executive council and Ameer of Dhaka North city unit, Md Selim Uddin, along with leaders and activists of Banani and Gulshan thana units of Jamaat, accompanied him during the visit. Addressing the families of the martyred army members, Dr Rahman said that 74 people, including 57 brave army officers, were brutally killed in a planned incident at Pilkhana in Dhaka on February 25 and 26, 2009. We remember the deceased with profound respect and pray for the forgiveness of their souls. Referring to the incident, he said the nation wants to know the actual reasons behind the brutal killings of army officers on February 25 and 26, 2009.
