EDMONTON—Jason Kenney was sworn in as Alberta’s 18th premier on Tuesday before naming his United Conservative cabinet ministers, who will oversee everything from energy to education. ( Codie McLachlan / Star Edmonton )Doug Schweitzer, the Calgary-Elbow MLA who made a bid in 2017 to lead the UCP, ultimately losing out to Kenney, was named minister of justice and solicitor general. Jason Nixon, elected in Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre, was named minister of environment and parks. Kaycee Madu, MLA-elect for Edmonton-South West and the only one elected in Edmonton, was named minister of municipal affairs.
