Deputy President William Ruto has said former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo will be held accountable for defaming him. Through his lawyer Korir Sing'oei, Ruto says he is reviewing the full transcripts of the reckless, malicious and defamatory statements made by Jirongo. "The deputy president has noted with concern the comments attributed to Cyrus Jirongo who stated that Juma slapped Ruto, that is where the problem started and investigations should start there. Taken together, Jirongo's statement carry the patent insinuation that DP Ruto was involved in the deaths of both Yebei and Juma," Korir said. In his letter, Ruto claims Jirongo said the killers of Meshack Yebei, a prospective defense witness at the International Criminal court, were the same persons who killed Juma.
