Joe Biden, Kamala Harris Reject Republicans’ Criticism over Civil Unrest

Democratic running mates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris rejected Republicans’ characterization of them as soft on crime on Thursday and condemned President Trump’s handling of unrest in parts of the country over racial injustice. Ahead of Mr. Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention, Ms. Harris emphasized the difference between what she said were peaceful protesters and agitators. “You won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America,” Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday. Mr. Biden on MSNBC Thursday faulted Mr. Trump’s leadership for the unrest, saying that the president was “rooting for more violence, not less.”“He’s pouring gasoline on the fire. This happens to be Donald Trump’s America,” Mr. Biden said, adding: “I condemn violence in any form, whether it’s looting or whatever it is.”
